A few datapads will mention the friend, though never by a name, as according to one entry, "Names don't exist to them or some nonsense like that." Entries will reference 'them' repeatedly and 'their things' but the only real clue that they existed for sure is in the sleep pod, which contains a sticky unknown substance on the bottom.

It can be analyzed to discover it is similar to the mucus that some of the lifeforms here use to glide through the water faster.
