Round #2 Introduction

Enter like a star

Welcome to all new crew members! URSULA is happy to see you! The planet, well, that remains to be seen.

Go ahead and use this post to introduce yourself, your character, talk about any wishes you might have and plot with each other! Don't worry about the formatting. This is just to get our feet wet and say hello to each other.

Remember to read up on the info pages, check out the FAQ if you still have questions and have fun! As usual, the intro log for new arrivals will go up on the first of the next month!

Hello! I'm Karin, and I'm new here. I bring you Fohristiwhirl Skaffen-Amtiskaw Handrahen dran Easpyou—you can call it Skaffen-Amtiskaw, or just "drone" if it's pissed you off—from the Culture novels of Iain M. Banks. It's a drone—a snarky and pugnacious AI optimized for combat and defence, packaged in a levitating ceramic shell about the size of a small suitcase. I'll have more info up on its Info page later, but for now, you can view its profile page for more details.

Nice to meet y'all! You can find me on Plurk at [plurk.com profile] finalprogramme.

While I've never read the relevant books, this character is so fascinating I find myself really wanting to. What an awesome choice for apping!

Don here is kind of familiar with robots and artificial intelligences, but he's used to them being a lot more humanoid than this. Skaffen-Amtiskaw is really gonna throw him for a loop!

I highly recommend the Culture books to everyone! Use of Weapons and Player of Games are probably two of the best to start with; UoW was my first. (It is also arguably the best one, but it's not as if it's all downhill from there; all the books are good. Well, except Matter has got way too much slack, IMO, but that's an exception.)
