It is this game's one year anniversary! Thanks to everyone who has been here with us from the start and to those who have joined us along the way. We hope to continue the game with your help and enthusiasm!
Due to not having the energy to mod the game anymore, Ariel-mod will be stepping down. She would like to thank everyone for being so fun to mod. Gary-mod will be stepping up as head mod with Ariel-mod's guidance on the meta-plot. We will be asking for plotting mod and helper mod applications to help Gary-mod take on this new position. Last month we forgot to post the TDM. Our apologies! We will post it this month on the 15th.
Finally, the delay period for re-apping a character has been lowered to two months. We felt this time span was more appropriate to the style the game has set! Any character can now be re-applied for after two months rather than four.
URSULA's ranged downs drones will pick up a storm front forming on the 1st and she will warn everyone to stay safe. The storm will arrive on the 3rd.
While most things will be fine, a power outage will happen midday on the 4th. Power will come back on within minutes but this will have caused a malfunction with URSULA's telepathic communicators. Telepathy will short and crew members will be left knowing how to speak only one of three languages: Kharaa, the Precursor language (limited to the vocabulary from their Rosetta Stone), and French. Comment below here to request a language rolled! You may also choose this on your own.
Note on Precursor: Crewmates stuck speaking Precursor may find themselves strangely limited. The Rosetta Stone covers things like the 1000 most common words and scientific language about Carar as well as a lot of basics. It does not have a word for 'bathtub' and characters will have to find ways to talk around this. enjoy your 'round deep clean water container.'
Note on Kharaa: The language URSULA has in her database has lots of new additions (like apples) but is missing some philosophical concepts. These are ideas of individuality, separateness or anything else that might be thought of by beings who aren't a hive mind. They do have a lot of different kinds of nuanced words and phrases to discuss group activities and conquest. They know a lot about bringing new genetic material into their group!
Note on French: Hon hon hon.
By the 8th the translator will be repaired and the storm will have passed by the 9th. It will be safe for characters to explore at that point. Characters will find they have an easier time learning whatever language they got stuck with during the storm.
und Drang
Lots of debris has been washed up by the storm! Like last time, characters who go out after the storm's peak on the 7th may discover things. Familiar things. The storm appears to have dragged up and scattered items from home. Characters may find two small things from home (up to the size of a person each) or one large thing (up to the size of a car). These can be anything you like, although please let us know if they are items we'd need to be aware of the powers of! Obviously, a character doesn't have to find their own stuff. You're welcome to let someone else discover your junk! Hopefully they'll be nice enough to give it back.
In addition, URSULA will have detected large debris deposits through all of the main biomes, in Main Mission. You may submit a mission request for a team of at least two people to request "help," "harm," or "surprise me!" and we will try to include something special in these debris deposits!
Stalker Troubles
Towards the ends of the month, large groups of Stalkers begin to gather around the base. By the 26th there will be more than a hundred around. They will be as friendly as ever but very demanding of food and will snap at those who don't feed them. It appears that many of their food supplies were scared off by the uncharacteristic storm! Help them out in this month's Side Mission! They can be shooed off by the end of the month if we are careful!
AC is running to the end of the month so we are not including updates with this post. We will instead post them once AC closes. As a reminder, we don't manage the player-run Subnautica discovery document as mods, but we encourage everyone to use the document for details that aren't included on the Biome and Base posts.

Obviously he'll fail but there'd be a lot of poking around at trying to figure out how to make it work right. So this is just 'if anything interesting would pop up' I guess?
Hinata will try to help.... somehow.............. probably through brain scanning and other assorted things that probably shouldn't be attempted while they can't understand each other but hey necessity and invention and all that
